The BTC to ETH formula
Divide the price of one BTC by the price of one ETH. Use the same quote currency, such as USDT, and prices from the same time. Multiply that ratio by the BTC amount to calculate its reference value in ETH.
Formula: ETH amount = BTC amount × BTC price ÷ ETH price. Prices taken from different venues or at different times can produce a different result from an executable BTC/ETH quote.
Worked example: 0.02 BTC to ETH
Use example prices of 60,000 USDT per BTC and 3,000 USDT per ETH. These are arithmetic examples, not current market quotes. The cross rate is 60,000 ÷ 3,000 = 20 ETH per BTC.
For 0.02 BTC: 0.02 × 60,000 ÷ 3,000 = 0.4 ETH. If a 0.5% fee is deducted from that output, 0.4 × 0.995 = 0.398 ETH remains before any separate network charge.
Reverse conversion: ETH to BTC
Reverse the prices: BTC amount = ETH amount × ETH price ÷ BTC price. In this example, 1 ETH corresponds to 0.05 BTC, and 0.4 ETH corresponds to 0.02 BTC.
A rate of 20 measures ETH per BTC. A rate of 0.05 measures BTC per ETH. Keep the units attached to every rate: the reverse rate is one divided by the forward rate.
Why an exchange can show a different amount
The calculation compares the two prices you entered. Actual conversion proceeds also depend on execution price, spread, fees and possible slippage. Withdrawal fees may be charged separately or in another asset. Check the final receive amount and each charge in the order preview.

When a quote is unavailable
The calculator shows when quotes were fetched. Conversion is disabled if either selected coin has no quote or its quote is over five minutes old, until refreshed. Arithmetic expressions remain available. USDT quotes do not include execution spread, fees or trading conditions.
Calculation questions
Can I calculate BTC to ETH without a wallet?
Yes. Arithmetic conversion needs only a BTC amount and two prices. This website does not ask for a wallet address or execute swaps.
Is this the live BTC/ETH rate?
The calculator loads public quotes, displays their update time and lets you select different coins. Conversion is disabled when a fresh quote is unavailable. Prices in the article below are a separate worked example.
